Is the free tier really free forever?+
Yes. 100 API calls/day, 1 webhook, all data fields, no credit card required. Forever. We make money on Pro/Scale — Free is how you try the product and how we attract users who grow into paid tiers.
When does Pro/Scale billing launch?+
Stripe integration is on the roadmap. For now: if you'd hit the free tier's ceiling, email hello@fundedapi.com — we'll manually bump your quota and invoice you monthly at the Pro/Scale price. Early adopters get grandfathered pricing.
What happens if I exceed my daily quota?+
API returns HTTP 429 with a clear error and `Retry-After` header. No surprise bills, no auto-upgrade. Your quota resets every 24h from your last reset window — see the countdown in your dashboard.
Can I cancel anytime?+
Yes. No long-term contracts, no lock-in. Billing is month-to-month. Cancel from the dashboard (or email us) and you drop back to the free tier at the end of the current billing period.
Do you offer annual or startup discounts?+
Annual: 2 months free (pay for 10, get 12). Startup (<10 employees, raised <$2M): 50% off Pro for your first year — just email hello@fundedapi.com with your company name + a link to your funding announcement.
What's the difference between the digest email and the API?+
Digest = human-readable weekly summary (top 20 rounds, no contact data) sent to your inbox. Free for everyone, even non-API users. API = machine-readable endpoints with full contact/funding detail, filterable, queryable — needs an API key.
Data source and accuracy?+
We scrape public funding announcements (TechCrunch, press releases, SEC filings, VC portfolios) daily. Email/LinkedIn contacts come from public company pages + press releases — never pattern-guessed. Typical bounce rate in our testing: <5% (vs ~40% for most competitor products that guess).
Can I self-host?+
Self-hosting is available on our Enterprise plan — typically for regulated industries (finance, healthcare, govt) that can't call external APIs. We ship a containerized deployment into your VPC (EU Railway, AWS GovCloud, on-prem). Email hello@fundedapi.com for pricing.
